Join us for the first gingerbread house contest open to all who wish to compete, view or vote. Read below for our rules and submit your information in our entry form on the bottom to join the fun!
Downtown Beeville’s first-ever gingerbread house contest is inviting companies and community members to get creative and showcase their confection-construction talents. We will have several prizes that will be awarded to “professional/corporate competitors” (bakers, architects, engineers, etc) and “general competitors” who would include individuals and families (not submitting on behalf of a company). The houses will be submitted and displayed at the Gingerbread House Gallery at the Hattie & Hazel’s downtown where the public will be invited to vote on their favorites on Dec. 2nd!

Gingerbread House Display & Public Voting: Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 4 PM to 9 PM at Hattie & Hazel’s (217 W Bowie Street) Gingerbread House Drop-off: Houses can be dropped off at Hattie & Hazel’s on Friday, December 1st from 11 AM – 3 PM. *If you’d like to compete but can’t deliver your house during that time, an alternate drop off date and time can be arranged by contacting us at downtownbtxcoop@gmail.com.

RULES
Both professional and general competitor category entrants must adhere to the following rules:
- All Gingerbread Houses must be built on a heavy duty cardboard or PLYWOOD board base not to exceed 18” by 18”. FREE pre-cut plywood bases are available for pick-up at Hattie & Hazel’s beginning November 27th.
- Gingerbread house kits will not be provided. You are welcome to construct your house however you wish: purchasing a kit, baking your own cookies, etc.
- The foundational base board, candy wrappers, and lights are the only non-edible materials that can be used to construct your Gingerbread House.
- No artificial materials, such as styrofoam or wood, are to be used to construct or decorate the house.
- Non-edible decorations, such as paint, ribbon, figurines, etc. may be used ONLY to decorate the plywood base.
- Please come up with a title/name for your Gingerbread House and place it in a visible place on the base of your entry.

JUDGING
The Gingerbread Houses will be on display at Hattie & Hazel’s to be voted on by the public from 4-9pm on Saturday, December 2nd.
Winners will be announced on Facebook Monday, Dec. 4th and can come pick up their prizes at Hattie & Hazel’s.
Entries that violate any of the above rules will be disqualified from winning a prize but will still be on display in the gingerbread house gallery for all to enjoy!
